According to religious beliefs, thousands of years ago, a life-size idol of Lord Ganesh emerged from the Earth at this very place. The locals of this region then consecrated this idol and constructed a gorgeous temple around it. This shrine is now popular as Ganesh Mandir Jodhpur.
The pilgrimage to this temple begins the moment you start ascending the stairs leading to the temple. Climbing the 150 steps is a sign of one’s faith and devotion to the god. Upon reaching the top, you will not only be greeted by the stunning architecture of the shrine, but also the panoramic vistas of Jodhpur city lying below.
Seated in the heart of the temple is the 8 feet tall historic effigy of Lord Ganesha. Present on both his sides is his wives, Goddesses Riddhi and Siddhi. Adorned with floral jewellery, pearly necklaces and radiant crown, the idol is worshipped by pilgrims seeking blessings for prosperity and well-being of their loved ones.
